France is a place that has a really strong representation on the slopestyle scene and today we’ll talk with another young gun, Thibault Figone. This young shredder has an amazing riding style, strong combos, and his 2017 video edit is for some time now, one of our favorite edits! Are you wondering who is Thibault Figone and do you want to know more about his mountain bike sponsor Coast Cycles? Let’s read another part of our Getting To Know series and find out more!
Who is Thibault Figone?
I’m an MTB Slopestyle rider and I have 19 years old.
Where are you from and where do you live?
I am from a small city in Pelissanne, France. It’s close to Marseille.
Where do you practice your bike skills?
I practice a lot at Yannick Granieri garden and Canzandirt. Some time at my place.
You were competing in the Air to the Throne this year. Do you plan more FMB World tour stops in this season?
Yes, I finished 6th and want to go to all gold competition.
What was the best event you’ve ridden so far?
I think it’s FISE China.
Your 2017 video edit is full of big moves – backflip decade, decade to tailwhip or double backflip. What’s new in your trick list in 2018?
I don’t know. For the moment I have many new tricks close to land it on the dirt but I want to work on all my tricks so I can make some good runs this year.
The most favorite trick or move?
For the moment it’s Cash Roll.
Now, let’s give an advantage to your riding buddies for a Game of Bike! What trick don’t you like or don’t feel comfy doing it?
I don’t know maybe it’s Step Downs with very small lips.]You ride for Coast Cycles that isn’t classic name at the Dirt Jump / Slopestyle scene. Can you tell us more about it?
Yes, it’s a new brand! They made me a frame with all the “size details” I wanted. I’m really happy to ride this frame, it feels so good. It has everything I expected.
Was the design of the Coast Cycles DJ hardtail already done and you helped with some geometry details or you were involved from the very beginning? How is the process of making such a bike going?
I was working on it for 4 months, find the good size of the tubes, angles and get the good geometry that people will like. The Coast Cycles sent to me a 3D plan of the frame and after 3 months we made it – the Coast Cycles dirt jump frame.
